In Focus: Photography of Michele Muerte

Rarely does an opportunity come around to work with a photographer that is on your same wavelength artistically. That’s not to say I haven’t been blessed with working with amazing talents… but Michele Muerte’s sense of dark artistic values speak to my own. Holly Cakes- our model- sent over a beautiful piece of inspiration art work from artist Tyson Mcadoo, and a link to Michele’s portfolio.

I really had to think about this artistically. I wanted it to be just as creepy, but just as sexy and mysterious.

After a few face charts, I decided to stay true to Tyson’s rendering and keep the same color scheme. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke.

Like a Zombie on Christmas...

I have been following Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead” comic book series for the two years. Every few months a new trade is released and it has become more anticipated with each one. The story line revolves around the quintessential cop type waking up in a hospital left thrashed during the recent zombie outbreak. Looking for his family, Rick comes across a few disposable characters and you follow the group trying to survive zombies, outsiders, and each other.

Tony Moore’s illustrations (later to be replaced by Charlie Adlard) paint a very harsh picture for the story line. Using deep shading, minimalist detail in the background, and intense expression, you find yourself trying to identify yourself in the situation. You can almost hear the hordes in the distance from the safety of your couch.
